Bing Ads Editor implements updates in three different ways, based on how critical the upgrade package is. Here is an overview of those three upgrading processes, and an announcement detailing an important upgrade on the way.

1. Optional

You receive an upgrade notice with the option to install the latest version of Bing Ads Editor while working in the program. You can follow the upgrade instructions on the spot, or close the notification window to complete your tasks, and initiate the upgrade afterward by clicking Check for Updates under the Help menu. Editor delivers minor enhancements via Optional upgrade, so that you can update on your own schedule.

2. Mandatory

You receive an upgrade notice while working in Bing Ads Editor, and the upgrade process starts right after you close the notification window. Editor delivers critical fixes via Mandatory upgrade to safeguard your campaign performance at the first opportunity.

3. Automatic

Each time after you open Bing Ads Editor, the program checks whether an automatic upgrade package is available even when it’s running in the background. If one is available, Editor will automatically download the upgrade package to your PC, and the upgrade process will start the next time you open the program (i.e. close your existing session and re-open). Automatic upgrade is Editor’s default upgrade setting; it delivers new Bing Ads features and vital updates in a timely fashion with minimal interference.

Most of you experienced an automatic upgrade to implement Bing Ads Editor v10.1. The Bing Ads Editor Team plans to initiate another automatic upgrade soon to deliver Bing Ads Editor v10.2, which is a vital update aligning the Google Import function with AdWords’ new application program interface (API). This update enables you keep using this handy function without interruptions.
