Are my ads live?

Here's a short list of common mistakes to watch out for as you get your campaign up and running.

Your campaigns have been created and you’ve got all your ads and keywords in well-organized ad groups. That means your ads are live and you're off and advertising, right?

Almost. Take just a few minutes to make sure that you are truly up and running. Here are some things to check:

Payment method

Have you entered a payment method? If you have a coupon to try Bing Ads and you have a postpay account, you must also include a payment method to activate your campaign.

If, on the other hand, you have a prepay account, you still must add a coupon or add funds to your account to activate your campaign.

Here's how to enter your payment method: Add a credit card or other payment method or Add funds to a prepay account.

Even if you are absolutely sure that you have given us your credit card information or added funds to your prepay account, it's still a good idea to double-check your account status on the Accounts & Billing page.

Status and delivery

Your campaign, ad groups, ads and keywords must have a Status of Enabled to be up and running. Take a look at How to change your status, bid and other settings to learn how to check the status of these items. If you find that you need to activate a campaign or ad group, don’t forget to click save. You also might need to refresh your screen to show that the change has taken effect.

Further, the Delivery column must indicate eligible for each of your ad groups, ads and keywords. If there’s a different status, Campaign Paused for example, you might need to take some sort of action to correct the issue. Click on the little arrow next to the delivery status to get more information about the specific issue.

New ads and keywords can take up to a couple of days to pass editorial review and become eligible.

Keywords

Make sure that you have entered your keywords correctly. Keywords must each be entered on a single line. If you entered keywords separated by commas or semicolons, Bing Ads interprets that as just one long keyword (which is probably not what you want!). Negative keywords

Make sure you have entered your negative keywords correctly. It is easy to accidently enter negative keywords as normal (bidded) keywords. Double check the Keywords tab to ensure that only keywords you want to bid on are listed in the first (Keywords) column. Negative keywords should not be listed here. Now that you've checked one of these, you can preview your ad by using the ad preview tool. If you're not able to find your ad, here are a few troubleshooting ideas.

Remember that PPC requires regular and frequent attention. Make sure to monitor your campaign’s performance and make adjustments as necessary to get the performance you want.
